What is my phone

What is my phone.

The model this page is open on. Android is named from the model string the browser shares. iPhone is matched from the screen and the iOS version, because Apple does not send a model.

How the name is decided

  1. Android

Chrome can hand over a model code. A code like SM-S928U1 is a Galaxy S24 Ultra sold through a US carrier. If the browser stays quiet, the card says Android and points you at Settings.

  2. iPhone

The site matches the logical screen size and the iOS version against phones that share that glass. When several still fit, you get the short list, not a fake single answer.

  3. Computer

A laptop cannot see the phone in your pocket. Open this page in Safari or Chrome on the phone itself.

Questions people ask first

What phone am I using?

The card at the top reads this device as the page loads. On a phone, that card is the answer. On a computer, it says so — the check has to run in the phone’s own browser.

What is my phone model number?

It is the code the maker assigns to your exact phone, such as CPH2667 or SM-S938U1. The live card above shows it when this browser is willing to share it. Otherwise: iPhone → Settings → General → About; Android → Settings → About phone. The code is on the retail box and often on the SIM tray, and the model number lookup page turns any code into the marketing name.

Why isn’t it one exact iPhone?

Apple does not put the model in the browser. Several iPhones share a screen size. The iOS version removes models that did not exist yet, and the ones left are listed. Settings → General → About is the name Apple prints. Display Zoom can change the size and point at the wrong group.

Why does Android sometimes name the phone?

Chrome on Android shares a model string when a page asks. It is often a code such as SM-S938B, which this page translates into a Galaxy name, or a name such as Pixel 8. Firefox and many in-app browsers never send it.

Do you store what phone I have?

The check runs in the browser. If the model code is already in the list, nothing is sent. If it is not, that code is saved so the marketing name can be added later. The public IP of this connection is shown on the card and is not saved. No account and no name. This phone also remembers its own last result for the next visit, and that memory stays on the phone.

What is a model number versus a model name?

The name is what people say: Galaxy S25 Ultra, iPhone 16 Pro, Pixel 8. The number is what the maker prints: SM-S938U1 or a similar code. On Samsung, the letters after the number say the region, and U1 means a US factory-unlocked phone while U means a US carrier phone.

How do I find it without this page?

iPhone: Settings → General → About → Model Name. Android: Settings → About phone. The same name is on the box. On many phones the model number is also in the SIM tray.
